About Us

813 Coffee Co is owned and operated by the husband and wife tandem of Varian & Herlyn. Before they were even a couple, they have both dreamed of one day opening up their coffee company. They became a couple on August 13, 2016 and have taken all the necessary steps over the years to accomplish their dream. They launched their company during the pandemic lockdown of 2020. During this time, they began to learn how to roast, evaluate and develop profiles of coffee at a professional level. They continued to build on this foundation by improving every roast through coffee cupping, quality control and exploration of coffees from different origins.

What is 813?

813 represents a significant time in their lives as it is the date that owners Varian & Herlyn officially became a couple. As this is a special time for them, their hope is that each time you drink their coffee brings a moment of bliss to your life.

813 also comes from Varian & Herlyn’s couple Bible verse; Matthew 8:13 says “Go. It will happen just as you believed.”

Our Mission

“Elevate communities through coffee.”

We are on a mission to elevate communities through coffee. When we say elevate we are talking about making a positive impact in the lives of people in a community. By community we are referring to everyone involved in producing and serving coffee. That includes communities in coffee producing countries; the roasting communities that bridge the gap between coffee's origins and the cup; and the communities where we serve our beautiful coffee. Finally, coffee is the vessel by which we accomplish our mission of elevating communities. We are on a constant journey of developing high quality coffee to share in our community and yours!

Café Femenino Partnership

We source our coffee from the women farmers of the Café Femenino. We stand with these courageous women who fight for the credit they deserve and the voice they need to fight inequality. Café Femenino provides high-quality coffee beans while paying women directly for their work. This gives them the opportunity to take on leadership roles in their cooperative, and providing them with the title to the land on which they farm.

Coffee that Makes a Difference

We offer a premium line of ALL WOMEN produced, Fair Trade and Organic coffee . We seek out to highlight the different flavor profiles inherent to the distinct origin where the coffee is sourced. During the roasting process, we are mindful of developing a good body on the coffee as well as balancing the different flavor notes that are present in the cup. Each of our coffee offering tells a unique story. Take a sip and experience coffee that makes a difference!
