Reflecting on our Past and Embracing New Beginnings

Vision in the Making

In the autumn of 2020, as the world was navigating the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic, we found ourselves focused on a different kind of challenge—turning our vision into a reality. With the world in lock-down, it was a time for reflection, and we took that opportunity to transform our scattered notes, ideas, and email drafts into the early foundations of our business plan.

During those early days, as we thought of the future of our company, we realized that one of the most meaningful ways we could connect with our community was through local farmers markets. In a time when face-to-face interactions were limited, we saw this as a valuable opportunity to build brand awareness, support local initiatives, and create a direct connection between our coffee that makes a difference and the people we serve.

We envisioned a place where we could bring our passion for women-produced coffees to life, where each cup told a story of empowerment, and where we could engage with our community in a personal, meaningful way.

Unexpected Conversations

Our journey took us from the vibrant streets of Brooklyn to the more tranquil suburbs of Westchester County, where we began to plant new roots for our growing business. It was here that we began hosting regular coffee pop-up events, an exciting step that allowed us to connect with our community in a more personal way. Through these pop-ups, we met so many wonderful people who resonated with our mission, and the experience was everything we had imagined when we first dreamed of participating in a farmers market.

Then, in January of 2023, during one of our pop-up events, something remarkable happened. A kind woman came to one of our pop up events and struck up a conversation. She asked if we had ever considered joining a farmers market, as she happened to be the market director of a local one and was actively looking for a coffee vendor. We were thrilled by the possibility, but unfortunately, the timing wasn’t right for us to take that step. So, we had to pass on the opportunity at that moment. However, this encounter left a lasting impression on us and little did we know, that brief conversation would set the stage for what was to come.

Stepping Forward

Sometimes, in life, things don’t go exactly as we plan. And that’s okay. It’s in those moments that we must take time to reflect and ask ourselves: What can we learn from this experience? It’s easy to get caught up in our expectations, but true growth often happens when we develop an open mind and adapt to the unexpected. The truth is, progress doesn’t always come in grand leaps; sometimes, it’s in the tiniest of steps. What matters is that we keep moving forward, no matter how small those steps may seem. So when you face an obstacle and you feel like your plan has failed, just take one more step. And then take another.

We’ve learned that clarity comes with movement. The more we act, the clearer the path becomes. There are twists, turns, and detours—but that’s part of the process. Progress is better than perfection. And every small win is worth celebrating. Even when things don’t go according to plan, we have the power to make a difference, take action, and continue moving forward.

The Journey Continues

As we close out the year 2024, we reflect on how much we’ve accomplished together, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to connect with our community. This year, we’ve been fortunate to participate in a handful of local market events, each one bringing us closer to our mission of sharing our coffee and the powerful stories behind it.

And as we look ahead to the winter months of 2025, we’re filled with excitement and gratitude to announce that something that started as a simple bullet point in our business plan is now becoming a reality. We are thrilled to share that you can now find us at the TaSH Winter Farmers Market on Saturday mornings!

This milestone means so much to us as a business and as a part of a larger community. The farmers market is far more than just a place to shop for fresh goods—it’s a gathering space where people come together to celebrate local businesses, share stories, and discover new products with meaning. Being a part of this incredible market allows us to connect with coffee lovers and local supporters in a way that is both personal and exciting.

As we settle into this new chapter, we look forward to seeing familiar faces, welcoming new ones, and continuing to make a difference—one cup at a time!
