What was the dream / vision that you had that led you to open up your cafe?

It all began when I was a stay-at-home mom, and my son had a bake sale at school. I was the only mom who brought store-bought cookies, and they stood out—unmistakably dusty among the beautiful, homemade treats. I felt embarrassed and disappointed, but more than that, I was determined to do better. That Christmas, my husband, Andres, gifted me a KitchenAid mixer, and that’s when everything changed…

Over the past year, coffee prices have experienced a significant increase, with recent statistics indicating a remarkable 50% rise. . We believe that understanding the reasons behind these rising prices and taking actionable steps to support women coffee producers can help empower consumers and drive positive change in the coffee industry.

As we approach Valentine's Day this February, we find ourselves reflecting on the meaningful connections that shape our lives—whether it be the love between two people or the shared passion for a cause greater than ourselves.  Our love journey began on August 13, 2016, the date that marked the beginning of our relationship and also became the name of our company—a constant reminder of the love that fuels both our journey and our purpose.

In the autumn of 2020, as the world was navigating the uncertainty of the covid pandemic, we found ourselves focused on a different kind of challenge—turning our vision into a reality. With the world in lockdown, it was a time for reflection, and we took that opportunity to transform our scattered notes, ideas, and email drafts into the early foundations of our business plan.

As a husband-and-wife team, we feel incredibly blessed to have launched 813 Coffee Co during the pandemic lockdown of 2020. While the world faced challenging and uncertain times, we found ourselves on a journey of learning and growth.

At 813 Coffee Co, we proudly source our beans from women-owned and operated farms, honoring the incredible work that goes into every bean. This month, we’re shifting our focus from the remarkable women behind our coffee to launch our "Elevate Your Daily Grind” series. Join us as we explore various brewing techniques. To kick things off, we’ll dive into the art of pour-over coffee — a method that highlights the unique flavors of our carefully selected beans.
